Gentle, well broke quarter horse gelding. Use him as a cowhorse, trail horse, husband horse, hunting horse, kid’s horse, 4H, gymkhanas, pole bending $6,000 SOLD

This nice gelding is just the horse for someone who is looking for a solid minded, well broke, gentle horse that they can take to the mountains. “Bear” was started and trained by trail horse trainer Wil Howe in Oregon, and Wil did a really nice job with this quarter horse gelding. He takes a very light neck rein, backs, spins, takes a light leg cue, and all in all, he’s very well broke. Anybody could ride this horse, but to be honest with you, he’s probably a better horse than most people are riders. This horse is NICE. It wouldn’t hurt my feelings at all if Bear were my only horse—he’s that nice.

A good rider will delight in Bear’s responsiveness, light touch, easygoing manner, and overall demeanor. He’ll take good care of beginning riders, but heavy-handed beginners will be over-steering and over-reining this horse. Just think it and start to give the cue, and Bear is already on his way. That being said, a good junior rider in 4H will have a great time with this good gelding.

Bear has a nice conformation, not too overly muscled and stout, but built to travel. He’s right at 15 hands tall, and has nice hard black feet. He has good withers to carry a saddle. He’s got a nice kind eye and is easy to catch, load, and shoe.

This horse is bred to the nines. He is an own grandson of both Colonel Freckles and Dual Doc, two excellent quarter horse stallions.

Bear would be a great mount for chasing cattle or trail riding in the high country all day. He is broke for mountain riding, and he’ll go right through a creek or climb a steep hillside. You can use him in gymkhanas, as a beginner’s barrel horse, as a husband horse for hunting and trail riding, you name it.
